Attorney General Denn wants manufactures to lower the cost heroin antidote

Naloxone and it’s nasal equivalent narcan are touted as powerful heroin antidotes and the latest numbers support that.

Already in 2015, naloxone saved 10 lives in Delaware statewide.

The price however of saving lives is costly.

Each two-person kit of Naloxone costs $110. The price of Narcan alone went up 50%.

This is why Attorney General Matt Denn says he is trying to strike a deal with the manufacturers.

“The cost has gone up so much that it really has become a major obstacle for departments that want to carry the medication,” says Attorney General Denn “Who knows how of those people would have made it if they had to wait for treatment until they got to an emergency room”.

The attorney general tells 47 ABC he has already spoken with pharmaceutical company Amphastar and Denn says he believes they will come to an agreement in the near future.
