4 rescued after boat runs aground in Chincoteague

(AP) – Four people have been rescued after their boat ran aground in Chincoteague.

The Coast Guard says the 24-foot pontoon boat ran aground near Chincoteague Point on Tuesday night. A crew from the Coast Guard’s Station Chincoteague brought the boaters aboard a special purpose shallow water boat and took them to a marina in Chincoteague.

No one was injured.

The Coast Guard says in a news release that the crew decided to transport the boaters instead of towing the boat because of 25-knot winds and rain.
