2015 Punkin’ Chunkin’ not for distance at Dover International Speedway

After a cancellation in 2014, it looks like Punkin’ Chunkin’ will be back for 2015.
Dover International Speedway and the World Championship Punkin Chunkin Association says the official dates for the event will be November 7 and 8, on the Speedway Grounds. Ticket are on sale now, for $10 per person, per day, with tent and RV camping options available.
This will be the 28th year of the event, where teams from around the world compete to hurl a pumpkin a distance. Proceeds from the event support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Meals On Wheels, Bless our Children, Autism Delaware, and more. The Speedway Grounds are well known for hosting Firefly Music Festival and Big Barrel Country Music Festival.
“While this year’s event won’t be one where we are throwing for overall distance, we are confident that it’s going to be the best show for the crowd that we’ve ever put on,” said Ricky Nietubicz, WCPCA president. “We are also confident that it will raise a lot of money for our scholarship program and for the charities that we support on a local, regional and national level. But, most of all, we’re looking forward to seeing everyone in Delaware again.”
“We’re thrilled to play host to such a uniquely Delaware, celebrated event,” said Mike Tatoian, president and CEO of Dover International Speedway. “Punkin Chunkin’s fun-loving fan base, teamed with our infrastructure and experience with hosting large-scale events, should make for a terrific event this fall.”
There is currently an early bird ticket option, $16 per person, for both days. For ticket, tent and RV camping information, call 800-441-7223 or visit PunkinChunkin.com.
