Widow of tractor trailer crash victim sues for damages

A tractor trailer crash in Talbot County that killed three people earlier this year is now at the center of a wrongful death suit.

The widow of 52-year-old Terry Coward is apparently suing the Mississippi-based trucking company Cooley Transport, Inc.

Back in April Maryland State Police say a truck driven by Brian Hutcheson was traveling Westbound on Route 404 in Talbot County, when he crossed over into the Eastbound lane side swiping another tractor trailer. Hutcheson reportedly kept driving until he veered into oncoming traffic again hitting the tractor trailer, driven by Coward, head on causing it to burst into flames.

Coward, Hutcheson and Hutcheson’s passenger, Danielle Mumford, died in the crash.

The complaint, filed by Francean Coward, states that Hutcheson was operating a Cooley Transport truck. The lawsuit claims Coward’s death was caused by negligence on the part of Cooley Transport and by Hutcheson.

47 ABC reached out to Cooley Transport about the lawsuit, but have yet to hear back from them.

Mrs. Coward is apparently seeking damages for financial loss and pain and suffering.
