Virginia Department of Education looking to upgrade report cards

Whether they become proud ornaments on the family fridge, or they’re tucked away in a drawer, report cards typically showcase your letter grade in school. But now The Virginia Department of Education is asking parents what else they want to see besides the typical letter grade.
Superintendent of Public Instruction Steven Staples is asking parents to fill out a short survey online. He says by doing so, parents and others who choose to take the survey will also help the department and the state Board of Education to identify other indicators of a school’s performance.
The Board of Education was directed by the The General Assembly to come up with the redesigned report cards by October 2016. The online survey will remain active until August fourteenth and can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/schoolreportcards
