UPDATE: Scaletta sentenced for gun charges

File of Jason Scaletta from 2014

In Salisbury, 34-year-old Jason Scaletta, has pleaded guilty to the possession of a shot gun, one of two charges he was facing in the Wicomico County Circuit Court.

Scaletta was arrested back in April. Detectives with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office searched his home on a warrant and found a gun under his bed, which is a violation of his parole, and prior felony convictions.

In court on Thursday, the state asked the judge for the maximum penalty of three years for the crime. However, the judge instead sentenced Scaletta to time served. This means the time Scaletta spent behind bars between now and April, is the only time he will serve for these charges.

Scaletta was indicted on stolen valor charges earlier this month, and is expected to have a jury trial on September 1.
