UPDATE: Salisbury man guilty of resisting arrest and DUI

Miguel Santos

A Salisbury man charged with resisting arrest, drunk driving, and a series of other offenses, has been found guilty.

Officials with the Wicomico State’s Attorney’s office tell 47 ABC, a jury found Miguel Santos, guilty on charges for resisting arrest and drunk driving. He was also charged with assaulting a police officer, but was not found guilty. The charges stem from an incident back in January where Santos was pulled over on Route 13, and was found to be driving drunk.

Authorities say as they were placing Santos under arrest, he resisted and started choking the officer. 47ABC spoke with Santos following his arrest. He claimed that he was guilty of driving under the influence, but when he was pulled over by law enforcement he claimed police brutality.

The deputy involved in the altercation reportedly suffered minor injuries.

No word yet on when Santos will be sentenced.
