UPDATE: Briddell guilty of human trafficking, sentenced to 145 years

It took the jury about two and a half hours to find Cornelius Briddell guilty on 34 counts Wednesday.
Briddell, also known as “Slime,” has been sentenced to 145 years behind bars. However before that sentence was handed down, three of Briddell’s victims spoke one last time. all of them emotionally pleading with the jury and the judge for a heavy sentence.
One victim explained that being held against her will, while also being sold for sex, has caused her to now suffer from PTSD, sleep deprivation, and anxiety.
During the trial she explained that Briddell priced her at $80 for customers or quote “John’s” to have sex with her for fifteen minutes, $120 for thirty minutes, and $200 for an hour.
Most of this happened at America’s Best Value Inn in Salisbury. The women say they were also sometimes forced to use heroin.
Baby monitors were actually used so that Briddell and his victim’s words, “pimps in training” could monitor the women when they were with customers.
Briddell’s mother and wife both spoke on behalf of the defense Wednesday. They admitted they condemned Briddell’s behavior, but believed he deserved a second chance.
Briddell also spoke in court Wednesday and explained he was leaving the outcome of the trial up to God.
Religion actually played a significant role in this trial. According to witnesses, Briddell was a church elder and would often conduct bible study in the hotel rooms with his victims.
Victims say he was also often absent earlier in the day on Sunday’s because he was at his church service.
Now the state as well as many of the witnesses still cannot comment on the case because Marcus Foreman, who’s accused of being one Briddell’s co-conspirators in human trafficking is due in court on Monday.
