Thursday, Councilman Pikus laid to rest

Milford Councilman “Skip” Pikus will be officially laid to rest this Thursday. Pikus passed away Monday at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital at the age of 74.

There will be a public viewing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rookery North Golf Club, previously known as the Shawnee Country Club.

The funeral service will immediately follow at the same location. The burial will take place at the Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover.

Instead of bringing flowers, the family is requesting that mourners make a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Milford Councilman James Burk tells 47 ABC donations represent Pikus well. He tells us he always wanted to help others and had a kind spirit.

Councilman Burk continues, “He’d always greet you with a warm handshake and my wife with a kiss on the cheek. You just felt like you were a part of the family.  We’re all a part of the Milford family, that’s what’s great about our community.”

Pikus also served as chairman of the council’s finance committee.
