Teens waiting longer to have sex

A new report from the CDC has some eye-opening information about the state of sexual behavior among American teenagers. According to the survey, teens are continuing to wait longer before having sex.

44% of teen girls report having had sex at least once, while 47% of boys do. In 1988, 51% of teen girls had had sex, while 60% of boys had.

The new report also looked at teenager contraception use. Condom use is up, and is still the most popular form of birth control for teens. Use of the pill is down slightly, meanwhile the use of the morning-after pill is up. 22% of teen girls report having used the emergency contraception. 5 years ago, that number was 14%.

Medical experts say more teens have probably used it recently because as of two years ago, it is available over-the-counter with no age limits.
