Salisbury false imprisonment suspect denied bond

A Salisbury man indicted on 21 charges of sexual offenses was denied bond Wednesday morning in Wicomico County Circuit Court.

Harry Jones, 59, was arrested on June 16 after a 37-year-old Crisfield woman claimed he kept her in his Keyes Lane home for four nights. According to court documents, the victim said she was tied up and sexually abused by Jones before she escaped by using wire cutters to snip zip-ties on her ankles.

Jones was initially facing 14 charges but on Monday, a grand jury reportedly found probable cause to charge him with an additional seven charges. According to the indictment, the charges include: attempted first degree rape, attempted second degree rape, three counts of 1st degree sexual offense, three counts of 2nd sexual degree offense, three counts 3rd degree sexual offense, three counts of 4th degree sexual contact, false imprisonment, kidnapping, 1st degree assault, 2nd degree assault, unnatural/perverted practice and wearing and carrying a dangerous weapon with an intent to injure.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney Matt Maciarello says if convicted, Jones could potentially face a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.

Dates for a motions hearing and trial have not yet been set.
