Raising money for baby mason

Twelve-year-old Bethany Demarie usually spends her summer days playing with her younger brother and family members, however Monday and Tuesday Demarie has dedicated her time to raising money for someone she’s never met.
An infant child named Mason is surviving with a severe case of shaken baby syndrome, Demarie decided she would sell lemonade and snow cones to help raise money for him.
“Mason, he got shook so I’m raising money for him,” Demarie said. “That would be scary if it was my little brother so I want to help (Mason) because I feel bad.”
Demarie learned about Mason’s case from her mother and said she was horrified that anyone could do that to a baby. Feeling an urge to do something to help Mason, Demarie said she had an idea to open up a lemon stand in Fruitland at her grandmother’s house.
Demarie’s lemonade stand will be open Tuesday before Demarie leaves Fruitland to spend time with other relatives.
All earnings Demarie said will go to Mason’s family to help with medical costs.
