#PuseyStrong. The Legacy of Coach Pusey

The city of Pocomoke said its final goodbyes Thursday to Susan Pusey during her funeral at the high school, followed by a parade through town. During the emotional, moving hour long service, several of her former players, friends and family members gave speeches of what Susan meant to them. Almost none of it had to do with her being one of the best coaches the state Maryland has ever seen, but had everything to do with her being one of the best friends and leaders they’d ever known. That idea, they identified as the true meaning of living, “#PuseyStrong”. Susan died Sunday morning from a complication with a knee surgery she had Friday.
During the course of the people speaking at the funeral, eventually Pocomoke High School principal Annette Wallace spoke. During her speech, she announced that next fall, the high school field will be re-named the Pusey Field at Byrd Stadium honoring their incredible coach.
Following the service, the town held a parade in nearly the same rout they took after winning each of her 16 state titles. Throughout the entire ride, city members lined the streets with signs and waved from their porches to show their support of their coach, their friend, their teacher, and a woman they will never forget.
