Ocean City’s City Manager David Recor resigns from position

(AP) – Officials say Ocean City’s City Manager David Recor has resigned from his position after serving three years on the job.

Communications Manager Jessica Waters says Recor’s resignation was announced Monday during a Town Council meeting.

Waters could not give any details about what led to Recor’s decision to resign, citing his leaving is considered a personnel matter; however, online records show Recor was charged with negligent driving on July 10. Maryland State Police have confirmed that he was driving an Ocean City vehicle that morning, when he hit a roadsign pole near Golf Course Road.

Officials say Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan will serve as the interim city manager in the meantime. Waters says a national search will be conducted to fill the spot permanently.

Recor served as city manager since June 2012.
