Md. minimum wage rise to take effect

As of Tuesday, the lowest paid workers in the state of Maryland will be paid $8.25 per hour.
The 25 cent raise is a part of the Maryland Minimum Wage Act of 2014 passed the General Assembly. The new minimum wage rate is a full dollar higher than the federal rate of $7.25 per hour.
Under the act, minimum wage is expected to be $10.10 by the year 2018.
