Locals sign scrolls for Marines in Chattanooga

Community member George Jackson set up outside the Walmart in Denton to allow folks to sign a scroll to send to Chattanooga following the shooting tragedy. The scrolls, which are typically 500 to 600 feet long include signatures and well wishes for all branches of the military. On Friday, the scroll was specifically for the marines.

Jackson has been doing this for 20 years and even travels to schools with them. 47 ABC spoke with community member and scroll organizer George Jackson and he tells us,

“They know so many people love them and they do once they read all this. People back home know that they’re there and know about them and love them and it helps their morale a lot.”

The scrolls will be available to sign at the Denton Walmart from now until next Saturday and the Marine scroll is set to be sent out on the 27th. All other scrolls are sent out during Christmas time.
