Jul. 14 – Summer Cooling Program

Sussex and Kent County residents may qualify to receive an energy-efficient window air conditioner at no charge through the 2015 Summer Cooling Assistance Program.

First State Community Action Agency will be accepting walk-ins on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 between 9:00AM – 2:00PM at its Georgetown office location (308 N. Railroad Ave) for individuals interested in applying for a window A.C.

To qualify, applicants must be either 60 years of age or older, a person with a disability, or have children under the age of five. Households must meet income eligibility requirements at or below 200% federal poverty guidelines which have not received AC from this program in the past five years.

Applicants must bring with them the following documents:
· Photo ID for anyone in the home 18 and over
· Social Security cards for everyone over 6 months
· Birth Certificates for anyone under 18
· Proof of income for everyone in home
· Current electric bill
· Lease if applicant is a renter
· Written permission from landlord if applicant is a renter
