Fire in Salisbury reportedly destroys RV

The Salisbury Fire Department says they responded to reports of what was thought to be a house fire early Thursday evening. Crews arrived on scene at a home on Monticello Avenue in Salisbury, around 4:40 PM to find an RV engulfed in flames.
The homeowner told fire officials he had been grilling earlier in the day, and left the simmering coals in the BBQ. The metal grate had apparently dropped into the BBQ, spreading the flames to the 1989 Amera Cruiser RV and the home’s garage. Fire crews say 15 firefighters were able to gain control of the blaze within 10 minutes, and little damage was done to the inside of the garage, but the RV was reportedly destroyed.
Officials say they found that the fire started from a trash van next to the outside of the garage, where the homeowner had discarded the charcoal briquettes.
Due to intense smoke and heat, damage was done to the siding of the house that is situated right next door to the garage. Total damages are expected to be about $75,000. There were no injuries reported.
