Farmers’ markets in prime produce season

It is prime season for summer produce and according to some local farmers, it’s an abundant season so far.
We’re told the summer produce season generally lasts until around September and while it has been abundant so far, the late winter did have a significant impact.
Amy Mullen of the Loockerman Way Farmers’ Market tells 47 ABC that many farmers had to delay planting, which pushed back their schedules slightly. This appears to have had a bigger impact on the smaller farms and its growers.
“The smaller growers and producers which are we cater to, we try to bring and get their product out to the public, they had a hard time.” Explains Mullen, “We have vendors that…their produce is probably a month behind.”
Mullen says she encourages residents to buy from their local farmers’ markets.
