Dover mother accused of whipping child with extension cord

Police in Dover say they have arrested a mother, after she beat her daughter with an extension cord.
Dover Police say on Monday, 28-year-old Nivia Brown, whipped her 6-year-old daughter with an extension cord at a home in Dover. The little girl’s injuries were apparently reported to Department of Services for Children, Youth, and their Families by a family member, of the girl.
Police say they arrested Brown, and charged her with assault second degree, and endangering the welfare of a child. During her arrest, she apparently told detectives that she whipped the child for not listening to her.
After being charged, Brown was reportedly released on unsecured bond, after arraignment.
