Del. State Fair hosts Hunger Relief Day

The Delaware State Fair may be known for its long-standing tradition of games, food and rides but it’s also about giving back.
Monday was Hunger Relief Day. Representatives from Food Lion was set up by the main gate collecting goods, which were donated to the Food Bank of Delaware. Last year, they reportedly collected about 22,000 pounds of food.
Bob Mills, a specialist for Food Lion, says they hope to collect the same amount this year. New this year, they have started collecting boxed goods.
“The food bank really wants pastas and that type of thing. So pastas, canned spaghetti sauces…” He said. “So if you haven’t come out yet and if you’re still going to grab some stuff to come out to the fair, that would be great to have.”
If you can’t make it out to the fair tonight, there are still ways to help.
Mills tells us Food Lion has a close relationship with the Food Bank and they would gladly accept donations in their stores.
