Chicken ordinance moves to legislation session

A proposal, which could mean more chickens in neighborhood backyards, is moving forward.
In a 3 to 2 vote, Salisbury City Council members decided to move the proposal to a legislative session on Monday.
We’re told a legislative session differs from a work session, because official actions like policy voting are taken.
If the ordinance does eventually pass, it would allow residents to keep a small number of egg-laying chickens in their yards.
We’re told the discussion is expected to be picked up again within the next three weeks.
