12 arrested in anti-lewdness campaign in Wolfe Neck parking area

A dozen men have reportedly been arrested, in connection with lewd acts that were reportedly taking place in the parking area of some local trails.

DNREC Division of Parks & Recreation Natural Resources Police says they have arrested 12 people in July, in the Wolfe Neck parking area near an intersection with the Junction & Breakwater Trail. They were all apparently charged with with lewdness-related offenses ranging from offensive touching; criminal solicitation; lewdness and indecent exposure; and loitering to engage in or solicit sex.

The men reportedly are aged between 49 and 82-years-old, with nine from Delaware; two from New York, and one from Pennsylvania.

DNREC says they have received many complaints about these types of activities happening in the Wolfe Neck area, and took action with “No Loitering” signs and increased patrol activity, before launching the anti-public lewdness campaign. Authorities are expected to continue the campaign, using both uniformed and plainclothes officers.

“This operation is a response to a serious and longstanding problem with lewd and indecent public behavior at Wolfe Neck,” said Parks & Recreation Natural Resources Police Chief Wayne Kline. “Such behavior will not be tolerated in a public area within a Delaware State Park. Every arrest that we’ve made and may make as this enforcement operation continues will reiterate that we are committed to eliminating this problem in a public area.”

All the men arrested were released on a criminal summons with pending court appearances.
