UPDATE: Va. man killed in rollover ambulance crash identified
(AP) – Virginia State Police say a Virginia man who was being transported by ambulance has died after the vehicle collided with a bus.
State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya says 60-year-old Douglas R. McCready of Parksley died at the scene of Monday’s crash in Accomack County.
Anaya says a Bloxom volunteer fire ambulance was headed through an intersection with its lights and sirens activated when it hit the transit bus. Anaya says the ambulance lost control and overturned several times.
The ambulance driver and two other squad members suffered injuries that weren’t life threatening. The bus driver wasn’t injured and no one else was on the bus.
Anaya says the accident remains under investigation.
