UPDATE: Salisbury hostage suspect held without bond

59-year-old Harry Jones, of Salisbury, MD

Harry Jones, who stands accused of holding a woman captive in a Keyes Lane home for three days, has waived his right to bond review. He is currently being held without bond.

Jones was arrested on Tuesday, after a 37-year-old woman reportedly told investigators that Jones had held her against her will, and physically and sexually assaulted her, all while restraining her.

The woman was apparently able to get free, and found someone on Old Ocean City Road, who helped her contact Police. She had reportedly been held by Jones since Saturday.

According to court records, when medics arrived at the scene, they found the victim with zip ties on her wrist and neck. Charging documents revealed that Jones did know the victim, but for her protection, we won’t be releasing their relationship.

Charging documents state that Jones picked the woman up at her house, drover her to Keyes Lane, brought her into his home, closed and locked the door, and then stated “things did not have to happen this way.” Investigators go on, stating that Jones then hit her on the back of the head with a crowbar, knocking the victim unconscious. When she woke up, she was reportedly in a bathtub, with her wrist and ankles bound by zip ties.

During the ordeal, the woman remained bound, and gagged with a piece of duct tape, according to the report. She was reportedly sexually assaulted numerous time over the course of the three days.

Court documents say that on Tuesday, Jones told the victim that he was going to the store, and would be back shortly. Investigators say this is when the victim took the chance to escape, and found wire cutters near Jones’ bed, cutting the zip ties, and fleeing to the road.

Investigators reportedly found evidence corroborating with the victim’s statement, and took Jones into custody on Tuesday.

Jones has since been charged with multiple offenses related to the incident, including false imprisonment, kidnapping, assault 1st and 2nd degree, reckless endangerment, sex offense 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th degree, and rape. Several of those charges reportedly carry a life sentence. Jones’ next hearing is scheduled for July 16th, according to online court documents.
