UPDATE: Police charge suspect in hostage situation

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office has charged a suspect in the reported hostage situation in Salisbury.

The Sheriff’s Office says at about 6 PM on Tuesday, they received a call of a reported abduction in the area of Old Ocean City Road and Keyes Lane. When officials arrived they reportedly found an injured 37-year-old woman who told police, she had been held against her will, by 59-year-old Harry Jones at his home on Keyes Lane, since Saturday.

The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation was then reportedly called to the scene for further investigation. Their investigation revealed the victim was apparently restrained and was reportedly physically and sexually assaulted by Jones. Officials say the victim was able to escape and get help after being held hostage for three days.

The victim was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for treatment and was later released.

Jones was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses related to the incident.
