UPDATE: Coast Guard search suspended for missing boater in Kent Island

The Coast Guard’s search for a boater missing in Kent Island, has been suspended, and the victim has been identified. The U.S. Coast Guard says they wrapped up the search for a missing 32-year-old man, around 9:30 AM Monday.

The man has been identified by officials as Javier Alejandro Sotello, of Silver Spring, Maryland.

They were reportedly looking in the Chesapeake Bay near Kent Island, just north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge for the missing man. Officials say they started searching around 5:00 PM on Sunday, after Maryland Natural Resources Police contacted them and reported a capsized boat.

MNRP reportedly rescued four people who were on the boat when it sank, but one more was still missing. Those rescued did not reportedly require medical attention.

The total search area was about 90 square miles. The Natural Resource Police says they are continuing the search, but are calling it a recovery effort.
