Two arrested on drug charges in Camden

A drug investigation in Camden, led to the arrests of two Delaware men. Delaware State Police say on Monday, the Kent County Drug Unit and the Governor’s Task Force learned that the two suspects, 19-year-old Jaleel D. Wayman, of Harrington, and 19-year-old Robert Knox, of Dover, were heading to a drug deal.

According to the report, Wayman and Knox were at the Camden Walmart for a drug transaction, and when Detectives arrived, they located the two, Wayman fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended. DSP GTF units say they then started to move in on Knox, who was still in the vehicle, but he sped away, avoiding Troopers, and hitting and damaging a vehicle in the process.

Police say that they then tried to pull Knox over, but he continued speeding away on Thomas Harmon Drive, ignoring stop signs. Investigators say they were eventually able to take Knox into custody, and found over 17 grams of MDMA in his possession, along with 1.5 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and over $2,000.00 in cash in the vehicle.

Wayman was charged with possession of a controlled substance tier 5 quantity, delivery tier 4 quantity, two counts of drug dealing, conspiracy 2nd degree, resisting arrest, and three counts of drug paraphernalia. He was also reportedly found to be violating his probation. He is now being held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in lieu of $86,000 secured bond.

Knox was charged with reckless endangerment 1st degree, felony resisting arrest, criminal mischief, disregarding a police signal, conspiracy 2nd degree, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving a vehicle at unreasonable speeds, and failure to stop at a stop sign. He is now being held at JTVCC on a $25,600 cash bond.
