Sound from the shore

Growing up on the Eastern Shore, Trey Campbell has made it big.
“Wow, it was actually amazing” Said Campbell when asked about how it feels to be an international recording artist.
Campbell, a Crisfield native, is now an international dance hall reggae artist after signing a major label deal earlier this year.
He says he developed his talents right here on the eastern shore.
His musical background started with family when he was inspired by a listening to a reggae song while surrounded by family members.
“I heard a song one time and it was different, it was from Jamaica.” And “It was different, it kind of caught my head, I liked to imitate it and that’s what all started off.” Said Campbell.
As time went by Big Trey, as some now call him, continued to develop his craft.
At talent shows and in the back of school buses other kids gathered to listen to his music.
Now, folks across the globe will have the chance to dance to it.
That’s because the record deal he signed with True Gift Entertainment gives him the opportunity to show off his skills and collaborate with some major artists.
In just a few weeks “Got It Lock”, a collaboration between Big Trey and international superstar Demarco will be released.
Marking Trey’s first official track on the label.
Campbell reflected on the fact that he is making music professionally.
“I never thought that I would be doing it professionally.” Said Campbell.
On Tuesday, Trey departs for Jamaica to shoot his first music video.
The 30-year-old tells us he is living a dream that he never thought would come true.
“Yeah, I thought it was going to be a hobby, after I was about 22, 23, I was like wow this is just going to be a hobby.”
Following his music video shoot, Trey will begin a world tour with stops in locations such as London and Jamaica.
And Trey tells us he will “never” rule out performing on the eastern shore.
