Salisbury man arrested after reportedly trying to break into home over custody issue

Lenord Pompilus, 25, Salisbury, MD

A Salisbury man is behind bars, after Police say he tried to break into a house, and caused a scene when Deputies attempted to break up the fight.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on Wednesday around 7:15 PM, Deputies responded to a home on West Road, for reports of a fight and a large crowd. Once on scene, Deputies say they found several people leaving the home, but were able to speak with the resident of the home. According to the report, several people showed up at the house, and started a fight over the custody of a child.

The Sheriff’s Office says during their investigation, they found that 25-year-old Lenord Pompilus had tried to break into the locked house, in an apparent attempt to confront those inside. Deputies say they were able to find Pompilus nearby, and when they asked him about the incident, he responded with profanities, and refused to cooperate with the investigation.

The commotion reportedly drew a crowd, which apparently started to close in on the responding law enforcement, before additional Deputies and State Troopers responded.

Pompilus was arrested, and charged with attempted burglary 3rd degree, trespass, disorderly conduct, and hinder and obstruct. He is now being held at the Wicomico County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
