Ridgley man arrested for shooting into hotel

Authorities say a man was arrested for allegedly shooting a BB gun into a Easton hotel.

Easton Police say they responded to the Days Inn on Ocean Gateway around 3:00 a.m. Saturday for reports of “a man shooting a high powered rifle”.

When police arrived, they say 22-year-old Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Jr. walked towards them with a rifle to his side. It was later determined that the rifle was actually a BB gun which apparently had enough charge to break thick glass.

According to Easton Police, Gonzalez had used the BB gun to break the glass to the front office, which apparently caused the clerk to fear for his life and hide below the counter. Police say Gonzalez also shot the window of a rental room with the BB gun causing damage to it.

We’re told the alleged incident stemmed from Gonzalez being upset about a job he had conducted for Days Inn. He also reportedly accused them of under paying him.

According to reports, there were several commands for Gonzalez to drop the weapon before he slowly placed it to the ground and was taken into custody.

Gonzalez has been charged with assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct. He was brought in front of a Court Commissioner and held on $15000 bond at the Talbot County Detention Center.
