Remembering our moments with Beau

“So tonight Mr. chairman, it’s my great honor, to place into nomination for the office of Vice President of the United States, my father, my hero, Joe Biden.”
Those the memorable words of Former Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden that brought his father Vice President Joe Biden to tears at the 2012 Democratic National convention.
With the passing of Beau Biden Saturday night, we’re left with memories and moments like these to remember one of Delaware’s difference-makers.
Biden joined 47 ABC many times on set at the Delaware state fair, always warm and engaging every bit the family man many claimed him to be.
Back in 2010 he shared with us a piece of his past, spending time at the fair.
Beau told 47 ABC, “I’ve been doing the fair since I was year, two years old. I used to sleep in a little peach basket underneath my father’s stand in the grandstand.” and “I love peaches and my daughter does too.”
At the time, Beau was recovering from a stroke, which fortunately did not affect his motor skills.
Regardless of his questionable health at the time, Biden told us he was grateful to be back in the states following his tour of duty in Iraq.
“I feel good, and I can tell you one thing, it’s better to be here than Baghdad where I was last year.” Said Biden.
Whether overseas or at home, Biden served.
As a Captain, Attorney General, family man, and ambassador for his home state.
Beau said, “I love the fair, I wouldn’t miss it. I’ve been coming my whole life, and I’m happy to be here.”
Biden wouldn’t miss the fair, but it, and Delaware will surely miss him.
