President Obama and others say goodbye to Beau Biden

Often times it’s the vice president supporting the head of state however Saturday in Wilmington the roles were reversed.

“Joe, you are my brother.” Said President Obama during his eulogy of Beau Biden.

President Obama honored the late Beau Biden, speaking highly of the former Delaware Attorney General, and son of Vice President Joe Biden.

“Beau Biden was an original. He was a good man, a man of character, a man who loved deeply and was loved in return.”

President Obama, accompanied by the first lady and their daughter Sasha were amongst many big political names at the funeral mass for Beau Biden.

Bill and Hillary Clinton, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Attorney General Loretta Lynch also attended the ceremony which saw Biden posthumously awarded with the Legion of Merit by U.S. Army Chief of Staff Raymond Odierno.

General Odierno was the commanding general when Biden was deployed to Iraq.

“Although Beau’s life was much too short, his legacy will live on in the thousands he touched, the thousands he influenced and the many he loved.” Said General Odierno.

Notable attendees weren’t limited to the political spectrum.
In what was a surprise to many, Chris Martin, the lead singer of the British rock band Coldplay volunteered to perform at the mass after he heard from a family friend that Biden’s children, Natalie and Hunter knew of their father’s love for the band.

Martin performed “Til Kingdom Come.”

Beau’s love was something that spread far and wide according to his brother Hunter, who spoke of his last moments with Beau by his bedside.

“I held his hand and he took his last breath. And I know that I was loved. And I know that his hand will never leave mine.”

Throughout the duration of the funeral mass, gloom surrounded the skies of Wilmington, however upon the exit of Biden’s casket from the church, the sun came out, shining light on one of Delaware’s brightest one last time.

Biden leaves behind his wife Hallie, his son Hunter, and daughter Natalie.
