Pocomoke fire kills one, injures one

Fire officials say one person is dead and another is hurt following an early morning fire in Pocomoke City. 

According to the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company, crews from multiple companies responded to a home on the 900-block of Market Street around 5:00 a.m.

We’re told one person was declared dead on the scene and another victim was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury for treatment.

Other responding companies included crews from New Church, Girdletree, and Stockton.

Very few details are available at this time; however, authorities say the fire is under investigation by the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office.
