Ocean City planning for new water tower

Ocean City may soon have a new iconic symbol, a beach ball painted water tower. The plan the city has selected would cost around $4.9 million.
The tower would sit over the Route 50 Bridge and Ocean City’s Public Works Director Hal Adkins is hoping for a fun design, a beach ball splashing down on a blue column.
Opting for the city’s logo would be much less expensive, saving $10,000, but officials say it would not result in an iconic symbol for visitors.
The tower is expected to be completed by January 2017.
