Ocean City launches 311 app for non-emergencies

A local beach town is trying to make reporting problems easier. The Town of Ocean City says they have launched a 311 app, which will allow both visitors and residents to report non-emergencies to authorities.
“Citizens often hesitate to call the police department or City Hall about non-emergency issues,” commented City Manager David Recor. “This app allows residents and visitors to report a number of issues that might otherwise be overlooked. It’s a great resource for our community and our employees.”
The app is currently only being used by the Ocean City Police Department, but the Town is hoping to expand it’s use in the future. Users can report issues like abandoned vehicles, animal complaints, ordinance violations and problem properties, through the app.
The app also features information on how to contact town employees and have direct access to social media links.
The town of Ocean City’s communications manage Jessica Waters continues, “You can also use it to get resources from us. You can get a calendar of events, get links to our social media sites, and listen to our emergency radio stations. There’s really a ton of things you can do with our app.”
The app is free, and available in both iTunes and Google Play, or can be downloaded by visiting the Ocean City website.
