No tax increases in Wico. Co.

A new budget has been passed in Wicomico County, although 47 ABC has no yet obtained a copy, councilman John Hall (R) D-4 says the most important part of it, is no tax increases.

“We haven’t had to have tax increases anywhere across the board this year and hopefully we’ll still be able to maintain the same quality of life that we have right now,” Hall said.

Hall also said that Wicomico was the only county to achieve no tax increases on the Eastern Shore.

“This year the other counties have had pretty significant tax increases and we like to think our management style is very good and we’ve been able to manage our resources productively this year,” Hall said.

The Board of Education received additional money from the state which helped them pass a level budget said Hall.

However no tax increases, Hall said, means no major projects for the county.

The county was also able to lock up the Shorebirds by having them resign their lease for 20 years.
