Miles River drawbridge to temporary close for repainting

A local bridge near St. Michaels and Easton will be out of order for nearly two weeks, while officials perform routine maintenance.
The Maryland State Highway Administration says starting July 11, they will be closing down a drawbridge bridge on Unionville Road at the Miles River in Talbot County. Officials say the two lane drawbridge will remain in the up position for cleaning and painting, along with the installation of a containment system to collect the old paint and keep it out of the water, during the process.
During the closure, both northbound and southbound lanes will be rerouted to Route 50, adding an expected 28 minutes/15 miles to affected trips. Bicyclists will have to follow the same detour. The work is expected to be wrapped up by July 31.
