MD grant to fund sexual assault prevention on college campuses

In Maryland, the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention is making money available to help fight sexual assault on college campuses.
Over $71,000 will go to the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault to fund it’s Sexual Assault on College Campus program, and applies to all Maryland community colleges and universities that receive federal student assistance.
The funding will pay for one attorney who will train victim service providers in Maryland to help improve responses to sexual assault on college campuses.
House Bill 571, which was signed into law this past spring by Governor Hogan states that colleges must seek agreements with local rape crisis centers as well as local law enforcement.
