MAC, Inc. faces funding concerns

Lawmakers, city leaders, and residents gathered in Salisbury to discuss the future of Mac, Incorporated.

It appears, over 244,000 dollars has been cut from state and federal funding. This may prevent services for senior citizens like “Meals And Wheels” to be offered to as many people.

Peggy Bradford, the Executive Director at MAC, Inc., says the budget is not finalized yet so the center will be looking for options.

“You know these people need these services, as one speaker said, they’re our lifeline. Cutting a lifeline is indeed a crisis.” Says Bradford.

According to Bradford, 98% of those who participate in Meals On Wheels have incomes at or close to the poverty level.
