Legion Baseball: Worcester and Post 29 Split Games
The Legion Baseball League continued on Saturday as Worcester played host to Talbot County’s Post 29 in a double-header.
The first game was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams with Post 29 getting on the board taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. Worcester’s pitcher, Derek Smith, balked in a run while another run was scored by a runner stealing second allowing the runner on third to come home. Worcester responded in the bottom of the third with two runs of their own and added another 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead.
Worcester continued to keep their bats moving in the bottom of the 6th adding 2 more runs taking a 7-4 lead. Post 29 looked to rally for the comeback win, but fell short only bringing in one run as Worcester wins, 7-5 the final.
However, game two was very different as Post 29 was ready to play including pitcher, Shockley who pitched four innings notching 9 strike outs allowing 3 runs. Both teams managed to knock a home run a piece out of the park, but it was Post 29 who closed out the second game strong with a 15-5 win over Worcester.
