Harrington man arrested for disorderly conduct and theft

64-year-old Maurice Collins, of Harrington, DE

A Harrington man was arrested on Saturday, after he was reportedly violent with Police Officers.

Harrington Police say while on patrol around 1:50 PM, reports came in about man walking down Dorman Street being disorderly and cursing. Officers say they located a man nearby fitting the description, and while the Officers were speaking to him, they say he started yelling, and cursing at them, and wouldn’t obey their commands.

Police say while the Officers were trying to take the man, later identified as 64-year-old Maurice Collins, into custody, he was resisting arrest, and trying to kick law enforcement.

The Officer was reportedly able to arrest Collins, and apparently learned that Collins had been at a business on Commerce Street, where he was behaving disorderly, and making sexual comments to patrons. Police say they also found that Collins had stolen items from the business, while inside.

He was taken to the Harrington Police Department for processing, and was charged with resisting arrest with force, theft under $1,500, and disorderly conduct, before being turned over to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $3,000 cash only bond.
