DSP investigating fatal Georgetown crash

Delaware State Police are investigating a head-on collision that reportedly killed a man.
Just before 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, police say 66-year-old Laurel man Laurence Bell was traveling westbound on Bridgeville Road while 63-year-old James Adkins was driving eastbound. Authorities say for unknown reasons, Bell crossed into the eastbound lane directly into the path of the Adkins’ car.
According to police, Akins was improperly restrained and was uninjured; however, Bell was transported by EMS to Nanticoke Hospital where he was pronounced dead. We’re told Bell was restrained at the time of the crash.
The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. Bridgeville Road was closed for approximately two hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
