Del. Adult Protective Services commits to helping victims

Financial abuse is apparently among the most common forms of elder abuse, but it’s not the only one.
Neglect and emotional abuse are also common, according to Delaware Adult Protective services.
Nationwide, an estimated five million people who live at home are victims of elder abuse, neglect or exploitation according to the Delaware Department of Justice.
To encourage more victims to come forward with reports, Carrie Magathan a supervisor for Kent and Sussex Counties of the Adult Protective Services in Delaware, says they are committed to helping any victim.
“We what do is, we kind of stick with them a little bit. Rather than just saying…okay, so this isn’t happening? We stick with them, come back for a couple more visits and really try to get to know them and develop a relationship.” Says Magathan.
