DE bill aims to crack down on sex abuse by health professionals

A bill in Delaware that would crack down on sexual abuse by health professionals was supposed to be heard in the senate Thursday.

HB 130 would make second degree unlawful sexual contact a felony level offense and would also add to the definition. The bill says the charge would also apply to health professionals that intentionally have sexual contact with the victim while they are in their care.

The measure was on the agenda for Thursday, but the senate went on recess until Tuesday. No word yet when the bill will hit the floor again.

This bill is similar to one in Maryland, named “Lynette’s Law”, that did not pass this session.
