Biden’s legacy remembered by friends, colleagues, and public

From Wilmington to Dover.
A journey to Legislative Hall one final time for former Attorney General Beau Biden..
His casket lay in the Senate chambers of legislative hall for hours Thursday, allowing colleagues, friends, and Delaware residents up and down the state to pay their respects to one of the first state’s rising stars.
“It’s a big hole in my heart to lose our friend Beau. But more importantly it’s a loss for the state of and in fact for the nation.” Said Richard DiLiberto Jr., a former Delaware House of Representatives member, who says he worked closely with Biden over the years.
Sharon Kirby of Milford, voiced her frustration as well as sorrow, saying, “I don’t know how much Delaware is going to miss him, but I’m going to miss him because I was planning on him being the next governor of this state.”
Rain, gloom, and sorrow filling the state’s capital Thursday afternoon reflected the mood of Delaware, acknowledging a major loss, and leaving behind a legacy of excellence, justice, and class.
“Beau always wanted to do the right thing regardless of the political fallout. He was just an innately good person, honest person, and he had a good heart.”
Governor Markell said, “Beau was really good at everything he did and he was also extraordinarily humble.” and “I think this is a huge loss for the people of Delaware.”
A huge loss indeed, not only for Delaware, but for Biden’s friends.
After paying his respects, Governor Jack Markell spoke highly about Biden as not just a political figure, but a person.
“I think the fact that he was so grounded and so interested in other people, there wasn’t a superficial bone in his body and when he had a conversation with you, he was all about you.” Said Governor Markell.
Beau will be laid to rest on Saturday and President Obama will give a eulogy in honor of the former Delaware Attorney General.
Hallie Biden, Beau’s widow is asking that instead of flowers, those wishing to make a contribution in memory of Beau should do so through the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children.
