Assateague Island National Seashore raising ticket prices

Visitors to the Assateague Island National Seashore may have to dig a little deeper in their pockets starting July 15th.

That’s when the park’s entrance and camping fees will increase. We’re told this is being done fund important maintenance and improvement projects within the park.

Entrance for vehicles will go up five dollars from $15 to $20. Kayak programs up ten, they will now cost $20 dollars.

Entrance per person will be raised from $3 to $6. Back- country camping will go up from $6 to $10.  

Front- country camping is now $30 dollars year-round. However, the largest pricing increase looks like horse camping which has been raised from $30 dollars to $50 dollars.

On January 1, 2016, the Assateague Island National Seashore Annual Entrance pass will increase to $40.  The current cost of the Annual pass is $30.
