Witnesses reportedly chase down Easton hit and run suspect

Persistent witnesses apparently led Police in Easton to a reportedly drunk hit and run driver.
Easton Police say on Tuesday, around 8:55 PM, Officers responded to the area near Pippen Farms, for an accident. Once on scene, Police say the found that a 24-year-old Easton man was stopped at the light at Ocean Gateway and Chapel Road, when a Lincoln Navigator ran into the back of his 2005 Chevy Silverado.
According to the report, the Lincoln fled the scene, but witnesses were able to follow it through Easton, giving Police the play-by-play of it’s location. Eventually, Officers were able to locate, and stop the Lincoln, which was apparently driven by 31-year-old Carlos Enrique Lopez Cruz.
Police say during the stop, they had enough probable cause to arrest Cruz for driving while intoxicated. He was then charged with failure to remain at scene of accident, driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, negligent driving, and following too closely, and released.
