Vikings start slow, fall to Salesianum

In a rematch of last year’s state championship game, the Cape Henlopen Vikings fell 16-5 to Salesianum in Buccaneers Stadium Caravel Academy.

Cape played from behind all game, with Salesianum scoring their first goal only six seconds into the first quarter. With 9:03 left in the first quarter Salesianum led 4-0. Erik-Stephane Stancofski got Cape on the board with 2:59 to go til half. Cape went into the break down 9-2.

The second half began much like the first, with the Sals scoring two quick goals to take an 11-2 lead. The Vikings showed some promise offensively scoring three goals in the period, but still trailed 13-5 going into the fourth. In the fourth, Salesianum scored two more goals to ice the win. Cape Henlopen finishes the season 14-6.
