UPDATE: Bennett Middle teacher arrested on sex abuse charges

New details have been released in the reportedly on-going investigation into the indictment of a local middle school teacher.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on May 5, they started investigating a series of texts between 32-year-old Kelly Riddle, a Bennett Middle School teacher, and a 14-year-old student.

Investigators say they found that Riddle frequently sent the student text messages, that were “interpreted as expressing love and affection.” Officials say they messages between the teacher and student had been going on for the previous 11 months.

On May 18, Riddle was indicted by the Wicomico County Grand Jury, on charges of sex abuse of a minor, and attempted sex abuse of a minor. Riddle was released form the Wicomico County Detention Center, after posting a $25,000 bond.
